How to maintain and safely clean
The Closet Company storage systems

Spacious walk-in closet with dark wood shelving, drawers, and open storage sections, featuring carpeted flooring and adjacent bathroom.

The Dos

For regular cleaning of your storage systems, use only a solution of 99% warm water and 1% mild nonabrasive detergent. You can mix this in either a spray bottle or a cleaning bucket.

  • If using a bucket, saturate a clean cotton or microfiber towel with the solution, and wring out before use.

  • If using a spray bottle, lightly mist the surfaces, and use a dry towel.

Wipe all surfaces using light, gentle pressure. Avoid scrubbing on corners and edges.

For routine dusting, use a dry microfiber towel or a Swiffer duster.

Here are some of the products we use: nonabrasive detergent, microfiber towels, cotton towels, bucket, spray-bottle, Swiffer duster.

The Don’ts

To protect the finish and integrity of your storage systems, please avoid the following:

  • Do not use abrasive detergents, vinegar-based cleaners, furniture polish, ammonia, lacquer thinner, alcohol-based cleaners, or any product containing acetone. These can damage the finish.

  • Do not use abrasive brushes, scrubbing pads, or paper towels, as they can scratch the surface.

  • Do not oversaturate the storage systems with water or cleaning solution. Excess moisture can cause the material to warp or bulge.
